The first night I had Garrett in Kiev, we were reading the Usbourne's first 1000 words book (thanks Mary!). And he started jesturing out the actions associated with the items he knew. I was astounded that he knew 99% of the pictures (no recognition of macroni and cheese). Even an ice cream cone!!! I thought what are the odds that a 4yr old in an orphanage would have the joy of an ice cream cone.So image his thrill when he saw the cones at the store and can now say "ice cream cone". So of course I had to buy them. And low and behold, the little guy must have known all about ice cream cones but he must never had actually eaten one. He thought I was crazy when I told him to eat the cone!!!!
But on the second go around, he decided he would go for it!
As you can imagine - it was a hit! I am so thrilled to have been allowed another "first" with my son.
