Good news - apparently he really does not have have a hernia and probably never did. Three consequtive doctors have now said that his scare on his tummy does not look like what would have been done for a hernia repair but instead to surgically descend one of his testicals. And no doctor can find a hernia still present. YEA one less thing to do during surgery.
Possibly great news - got the word today that they are hoping to schedule his surgery for Xmas eve. Now you may think this cruel but we don't have a single plan for Christmas eve or Christmas morning. He may miss Christmas dinner at grandmas, but we may have to take that hit. Since both David and Aley are off from Christmas day until New Years day and that is just what Garrett will need :-) Please keep your fingers crossed that this works out.
The Dentist
Aley took Garrett to the dentist on Monday (I tried a few weeks ago and he was very clingy so we thought if Aley could go and do everything first that he may be better). And boy was he great - he let them do everything!!!! Wonderful news --- he has all his permanent teeth and they look great! None of them have the discoloration that his baby teeth have and none of the are pointed as two of his baby teeth are. A few appear crocked and we were told to count on braces but this is a minor cost compared to what most adoptive parents go through with children with poor prenatal care.
I am sure that the dentist is not thrilled with Garretts afternoon snack but everyday he has toast and honey. Allergist recommend this when moving children and adults to new locations to help the body avoid allergies (you have to use local raised honey to do the trick). He loves it! When the bread is gone he tips the plate and likes every bit of honey off :-)
Garretts Adjustment
Garrett has started afternoon daycare this week for an hour or two just to get used to it. The transition is coming much easier but he is definitely not thrilled with it. At home he is doing great - he is so comfortable with all of us and anyone who comes to visit. Here he is sweeping the carpet - cleaning still remains one of his favorite past times.
