Ouch X7

1 staple removed
2 attempts to draw blood
4 immunization shots

Ouch! Garrett still says "ouch" in russian which is more like "ooye". Which he said about about a hundred times in the doctors office - in between a consecutive 20 minutes of screaming!

When I returned to Ukraine to pick Garrett up the first thing he communicated to me what that he had a booboo on his arm (where they stuck him to do his HIV and hepatitis tests) and he stuck out his lower lip, made a pretend needle to his arm, pointed to me and stuch out his tongue! Apparently he got the message that his mommy wanted the blood drawn!!!!

So at the docs office, I made the same needle jesture and he immediately broke into tears. Somehow we successfully negotiated that 1 big needle was ok. He did good for the 1 big needle --- but his little veins were just not producing. So they stuck his hand as well which of course was not negotiated and therefore he was POd. (as could have been expected).

The immunization shots were negotiated as "little" and he was good with that until the first shot which must have stung! All negotiations were off at that point - just a bit of physical restaint and blood curdling screams and all was good with the cookie and sticker!

Poor guy! The staple removal was a breeze in comparison!!!!

He is still sluggish and cranky and seems to think his arms are rendered useless for the rest of the day!
